This book is a product of a ceative impulse of a group of amateur entomologists centered upon the Alexei Kouprianov Entomology Circle (St. Petersburg, Russia). The circle unites people aging from 8 to 30++ years studying insects, spiders, and other terrestrial and freshwater arthropods. Ever since the Circle was organised in 1990, the main line of the members' activities is the study of insects and spiders of the North-West of Russia.
Rostislav Filimonov wrote the introductory part and compiled the species descriptions. The pictures were taken by Serguei Oudalov. Here you can find the full list of species included in the atlas. The book was published thanks to the financial support by Marina Vilner and Alexei Kouprianov. A significant contribution has been made by Igor Il'inskii.
